Overview

Customers often have a vision — a Pinterest cake, a color palette, a photo of last year’s cookies. When they submit an enquiry through The Board, they can upload reference images so you see exactly what they have in mind.

How Customers Upload Images

On The Board, customers can attach up to 5 photos to their enquiry. These might be:
  • Cake designs or decorating inspiration.
  • Color swatches for icing or fondant.
  • Examples of lettering, themes, or character decorations.
  • Photos of a previous order they want replicated.
Customers drag and drop files or tap to browse from their device. Common formats like JPG, PNG, and HEIC are all supported.
Good to know: Reference images are attached to the enquiry. Once you convert the enquiry to an order, the images carry over automatically.

Where to Find Reference Images

  1. Open the order from The Counter.
  2. Scroll to the Reference Images section on the order detail page.
Images appear as thumbnails in a horizontal row beneath the order details.

Viewing Images in the Lightbox

Tap any thumbnail to open it in the image lightbox. From there you can:
  • Zoom in to see fine details like piping patterns or text.
  • Swipe left or right to move between images.
  • Tap the X or swipe down to close and return to the order.
This is especially useful when you are mid-production and need to double-check a design detail without leaving the app.

When Reference Images Are Most Useful

Reference images shine for custom work:
  • Custom cakes: Tiered designs, fondant figures, hand-painted details.
  • Decorated cookies: Theme sets, character cookies, branded logos.
  • Specialty items: Recreating a family recipe presentation or matching event decor.
Even for simpler orders, a photo removes ambiguity. “Pink frosting” can mean a dozen different shades. A reference image makes it concrete.
Pro tip: When replying to an enquiry, mention a specific detail from the customer’s reference image. It shows you looked closely and builds trust.

Orders Without Reference Images

Not every order includes images. If the customer did not upload any, the Reference Images section does not appear on the order detail page. You can always follow up via your inbox to request photos if you need visual guidance for a custom order.
