Overview

Plans change. A customer adds a dozen cookies, swaps a flavor, or bumps the date. You can edit an order’s line items directly, and Knead recalculates the Total for you and updates it on The Board. Editing is available for active orders only — you can’t edit an order that’s been completed, declined, cancelled, or expired.

Open the editor

  1. Open the order from The Board (/orders) to reach its detail page (/orders/[id]).
  2. Click Edit (the pencil icon) in the header.
You’ll see the Edit heading and the Edit Order section with an auto-save badge.
Good to know: If the order is in a terminal state, you’ll see “Cannot edit a completed, declined, cancelled, or expired order.” instead of the editor.

Edit the order details

At the top of the Edit Order section you can update:
  • Delivery Date
  • Event Date
  • Delivery TypePickup or Delivery

Edit the line items

The Line Items section reads: “Quantities, unit prices, and descriptions save automatically when you tab out.” Each line item row has:
  1. A description input
  2. A quantity input (showing the unit, or “Qty”)
  3. A Unit price input with a \$ prefix
  4. The computed line total — shown as qty × unit price = total
Edits commit on blur — that is, when you tab out of or click away from a field. Quantity has a minimum of 1. The Line Items editor with quantity, unit price, line total, and the auto-save note
Pro tip: There’s no separate Save button for line items. Just tab out of a field and the auto-save badge confirms it’s stored. The order Total recomputes from the line items automatically.

Add notes

Use the Notes textarea (“Internal notes about this order…”, up to 2000 characters) for anything you want to remember — substitutions, allergy reminders, or delivery instructions. These notes are internal and not shown to your customer.

Finish up

Click Done to return to the order. The recalculated Total is already reflected on the order and on The Board.
