Overview

Your Board has a unique public URL based on your business slug. Customizing it gives you a clean, branded link to share with customers, post on social media, and print on business cards.

Where to Change Your Slug

  1. Tap Settings in the main navigation.
  2. Tap Business.
  3. Find the Slug field.
  4. Enter your preferred slug (for example, “sweetbakes” or “janescakes”).
  5. Save.

How Your Slug Is Used

Your slug determines two things:

Your Board URL

Your public order form lives at a URL based on your slug. This is the link customers visit to browse your products and submit orders. Share it everywhere — Instagram bio, website, printed cards, text messages.

Your Inbox Email Address

Your Knead inbox email also uses your slug: @inbox.kneadapp.co For example, if your slug is “sweetbakes,” your inbox address is sweetbakes@inbox.kneadapp.co. Customers can email this address to start a conversation.

Choosing a Good Slug

Keep it short, memorable, and consistent with your brand. A few guidelines:
  • Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only. No spaces or special characters.
  • Match your social media handle if possible. Consistency helps customers find you.
  • Keep it under 20 characters. Short slugs are easier to type and remember.
Good examples: “sweetbakes”, “janes-cakes”, “bakedbylu”
Pro tip: Before changing your slug, make sure the one you want is available. Knead tells you immediately if it is already taken.

What Happens When You Change Your Slug

Changing your slug updates your URL and inbox address immediately. This means:
  • Your old Board link stops working. Anyone who has the old link gets a “not found” page.
  • Your old inbox email stops receiving messages. Emails sent to the old address are not delivered.
  • Existing orders and conversations are not affected. They stay in your account as-is.

After Changing Your Slug

Update these right away:
  1. Email forwarding rules — If you forward emails from Gmail or another provider to your Knead inbox, update the forwarding address.
  2. Social media links — Update your Instagram bio, Facebook page, website, and anywhere else you share your Board URL.
  3. Printed materials — Replace business cards, flyers, or stickers that show the old link.
  4. Bookmarks — Update any bookmarks you or your customers have saved.
Good to know: Knead does not redirect the old URL to the new one. Update your links as soon as you make the change to avoid losing traffic.
