Overview

Baker notes are internal notes you attach to an order. They are visible only to you — your customer never sees them. Use them to capture anything that helps you deliver the order well.

Adding a Baker Note

  1. Open the order from The Counter.
  2. Scroll to the Baker Notes section on the order detail page.
  3. Tap the notes field and type your note.
  4. Your note saves automatically.
You can add or edit baker notes at any point in the order lifecycle — from the moment you create the order through to completion.

What to Put in Baker Notes

Baker notes work for anything you want to remember about an order. Common uses:
  • Special instructions: “Customer wants minimal frosting on the top layer.”
  • Dietary reminders: “Confirm dairy-free with customer before baking.”
  • Timing notes: “Start fondant work Thursday evening — needs to set overnight.”
  • Delivery logistics: “Gate code is 4521. Park on the left side of the driveway.”
  • Internal flags: “Repeat customer — gave a discount last time, keep pricing consistent.”
  • Design details: “Match the teal in the second reference image, not the first.”
Good to know: Baker notes are completely private. They do not appear on invoices, customer emails, or any customer-facing view.

Baker Notes on Manual Orders

When you create an order manually, you can add baker notes during the creation process. The notes field appears on the order form before you save. This is a good time to capture details from the phone call or text conversation while they are fresh.

Baker Notes vs. Customer Messages

Baker notes are not a communication channel. The customer cannot see or reply to them. If you need to share information with the customer, use your inbox or send a message from the order detail page. Think of baker notes as your personal sticky note on the order — a reminder that lives right where you need it.
Pro tip: Add baker notes as soon as you accept an enquiry. Details fade fast, and a quick note now saves confusion on baking day.
