Overview

Customize your order numbers with a prefix that matches your business. This makes Knead orders easy to identify in your records, conversations, and invoices.

Setting Your Prefix

  1. Tap Settings in the main navigation.
  2. Tap Business.
  3. Find the Order Number Prefix field.
  4. Enter your preferred prefix (for example, “KND-”, “BB-”, or your initials like “JS-”).
  5. Save.

How It Works

Orders are numbered sequentially after your prefix. If your prefix is “KND-”, your orders appear as:
  • KND-001
  • KND-002
  • KND-003
The sequence continues from where you left off. Changing your prefix does not reset the counter or rename existing orders.
Good to know: Existing orders keep their original numbers. The new prefix applies only to orders created after you save the change.

Choosing a Good Prefix

Keep it short — two to four characters works best. Some ideas:
  • Your initials — “JG-” or “BS-”
  • Your business abbreviation — “SB-” for Sweet Bakes
  • A keyword — “CAKE-” or “KND-”
Include a dash or hyphen at the end for readability. “KND-001” is easier to scan than “KND001.”
Pro tip: If you use accounting software or a spreadsheet to track orders, match your Knead prefix to what you use there. It keeps everything consistent across systems.
