Overview

Push notifications alert you when something important happens in Knead — a new enquiry, a payment, or an order update. You see them on your phone or computer without opening the app.

Enabling Push Notifications

Push notifications need permission from your browser or device. Here is how to turn them on.

On Mobile (After Installing the PWA)

  1. Open Knead from your home screen.
  2. Tap your profile or settings icon.
  3. Go to Notifications.
  4. Tap Enable Push Notifications.
  5. When your device asks for permission, tap Allow.

On Desktop (Browser)

  1. Open kneadapp.co in your browser and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  3. Tap Enable Push Notifications.
  4. When your browser asks for permission, tap Allow.
Good to know: You need to enable notifications on each device you use. Turning them on in your phone does not automatically enable them on your laptop.

What Events Trigger Notifications

Knead sends push notifications for the following events:
EventWhat You See
New enquiryA customer submitted an order through The Board.
Payment receivedA customer paid an invoice.
Order updateAn order status changed (for example, a customer messaged you about an order).
New inbox messageA customer sent a message through your inbox.
These are the moments that need your attention. Knead does not send notifications for routine system activity.

Customizing Your Notifications

You can choose which notification types you want to receive.
  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Toggle each notification type on or off:
    • New enquiries
    • Payments received
    • Order updates
    • Inbox messages
  3. Your preferences save automatically.
Pro tip: At minimum, keep “New enquiry” and “Inbox messages” turned on. These are time-sensitive — customers expect a response within a few hours.

Troubleshooting Notifications

If notifications are not appearing, work through these steps.

Check Browser or Device Permissions

Your browser or operating system may be blocking notifications. On iPhone:
  1. Open Settings > Notifications.
  2. Find Safari or the Knead PWA.
  3. Make sure notifications are allowed.
On Android:
  1. Open Settings > Apps > Chrome (or Knead).
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Make sure they are enabled.
On Desktop (Chrome):
  1. Tap the lock icon in the address bar on kneadapp.co.
  2. Find Notifications and set it to Allow.

Check Knead Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications in Knead.
  2. Confirm push notifications are toggled on.
  3. Confirm the specific notification types you want are enabled.

Check Do Not Disturb

If your phone or computer is in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode, notifications are silenced at the system level. Knead cannot override this.

Still Not Working?

  1. Sign out of Knead and sign back in.
  2. Remove the PWA from your home screen and re-add it.
  3. Clear your browser cache and re-enable notifications.
