Overview

Knead works on your phone as a progressive web app (PWA). You can add it to your home screen for a full-screen, app-like experience — no app store download required.

What Is a Progressive Web App?

A PWA is a website that behaves like a native app when you add it to your home screen. It gets its own icon, opens in full screen, and feels like any other app on your phone. Knead is built as a PWA, which means:
  • No download from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Updates happen automatically — you always have the latest version.
  • It works on both iPhone and Android.

Installing on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone. (This must be Safari — other browsers on iOS do not support adding PWAs to the home screen.)
  2. Navigate to kneadapp.co and sign in.
  3. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Give the app a name (or keep “Knead”) and tap Add.
  6. The Knead icon now appears on your home screen.
Tap the icon to open Knead in full-screen mode, without the Safari address bar.
Good to know: You must use Safari to install the PWA on iOS. If you use Chrome or Firefox on your iPhone, the “Add to Home Screen” option creates a bookmark, not a proper PWA.

Installing on Android

  1. Open Chrome on your Android phone.
  2. Navigate to kneadapp.co and sign in.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  4. Tap Add to Home screen (or Install app if prompted).
  5. Confirm the name and tap Add.
  6. The Knead icon appears on your home screen and in your app drawer.
Pro tip: On some Android phones, Chrome shows an “Install app” banner at the bottom of the screen automatically. Tap it for a faster install.

What Features Are Available on Mobile

Everything you can do on desktop, you can do on mobile. The interface adapts to smaller screens. Key features on mobile include:
  • The Counter — View your dashboard, check new enquiries, and manage order statuses.
  • The Board — Share your order form link. Customers access The Board from their own device.
  • The Sweet Spot — Check your calendar and capacity for upcoming dates.
  • The Pass — Check off production items as you bake.
  • The Pantry — Look up ingredient quantities and costs.
  • Inbox — Read and reply to customer messages.

Tips for Mobile Use

  • Use it in the kitchen. The Pass works well on your phone while you bake. Prop your phone up and check off items as you finish them.
  • Quick order checks. When a customer calls or texts, open Knead on your phone to pull up their order details instantly.
  • Stay signed in. The PWA keeps you signed in, so tapping the icon gets you right to your dashboard.
  • Notifications. Enable push notifications to get alerted about new orders and messages without opening the app.

Troubleshooting

If Knead is not working as expected on mobile:
  • Clear the browser cache and re-add the app to your home screen.
  • Check your internet connection. Knead requires an active connection to sync order data.
  • Update your browser. Make sure you are on the latest version of Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android).
