Overview

You can forward emails from your personal or business email account to your Knead inbox. This brings all your customer conversations into one place, so you never have to switch between apps to track who asked for what.

Your Knead Inbox Address

Every Knead business gets a dedicated inbox email address in this format: @inbox.kneadapp.co Your slug is the unique identifier for your business. If your slug is “sweetbakes,” your inbox address is sweetbakes@inbox.kneadapp.co. To find your inbox address:
  1. Tap Settings in the main navigation.
  2. Look for your Inbox email address. It is displayed on the page and ready to copy.
Good to know: Your inbox address works immediately. No DNS records, no verification steps, no technical setup on the Knead side.

Why Forward Emails to Knead

If customers already email you at a personal or business address, forwarding those emails to Knead gives you several benefits:
  • One inbox for everything. Customer emails, order form submissions, and notification replies all appear in the same conversation list.
  • Context at a glance. Each conversation is linked to the customer’s profile with their order history, notes, and allergy flags.
  • Reply from Knead. You can respond directly from your Knead inbox. The customer receives your reply in their email.
You do not need to stop using your existing email. Forwarding sends a copy to Knead while keeping the original in your email account.

Setting Up Auto-Forwarding

The steps vary depending on your email provider, but the process is the same everywhere:
  1. Open your email account settings. Look for a section called “Forwarding,” “Mail Rules,” or “Filters.”
  2. Create a forwarding rule. You can forward all incoming email, or create a filter to forward only messages that match certain criteria (for example, emails with “order” or “cake” in the subject line).
  3. Enter your Knead inbox address as the forwarding destination: @inbox.kneadapp.co
  4. Save the rule. Some providers require you to confirm forwarding by sending a verification email. Check your Knead inbox for any confirmation message.
  5. Test it. Send yourself a test email and confirm it appears in your Knead inbox.
Pro tip: Start with a filter that only forwards customer emails rather than forwarding everything. This keeps newsletters, receipts, and spam out of your Knead inbox.

What Happens When a Forwarded Email Arrives

When a forwarded email reaches your Knead inbox address:
  • Knead creates a new conversation in your inbox.
  • The customer’s email address is captured so you can reply directly.
  • If the sender matches an existing client in Knead, the conversation is linked to their profile automatically.
  • If the sender is new, Knead creates the conversation with the sender’s email address visible so you can identify them.
You can reply to the conversation from your Knead inbox. Your response is delivered to the customer’s email.

Tips for Smooth Forwarding

  • Keep your Knead inbox address handy. Copy it from Settings and paste it into your email forwarding rules.
  • Check your forwarding periodically. If you change your email password or provider, forwarding rules can break silently.
  • Share your Knead inbox address directly. You can also give customers your @inbox.kneadapp.co address so they email Knead directly, skipping the forwarding step entirely.
