Overview

The daily briefing is a smart notification feed on The Counter that surfaces what matters most right now. Instead of checking every section of Knead, open The Counter and let the briefing tell you what needs attention.

How the Briefing Works

Knead watches your business events throughout the day — new orders, payments, production deadlines, customer messages, and more. When something needs your attention, a briefing card appears in the feed. Cards are sorted by urgency. The most time-sensitive items appear first. As you act on them or dismiss them, the feed updates in real time. You do not configure the briefing. It runs automatically based on what is happening in your bakery.

Types of Briefing Cards

The briefing surfaces a wide range of events. Here is what you can expect to see:

Orders and Enquiries

  • New orders — A customer submitted a new order through The Board. Tap to review and accept.
  • Stale enquiries — An enquiry has gone 48 hours without a response. Follow up before you lose the order.

Quotes

  • Stale quotes — A sent quote has gone 48 hours with no customer response. The card shows whether the customer viewed it.

Payments and Invoices

  • Payments received — A customer paid an invoice or deposit. The card shows the amount and which order it applies to.
  • Overdue invoices — An invoice has passed its due date without payment. Follow up with the customer.
  • Payout status — Your Stripe payout has been sent or has arrived in your bank account.

Production

  • Production reminders — An order is coming up for production. Time to start baking.
  • Missed pickups — A customer did not pick up their order at the scheduled time. Reach out to reschedule.

Capacity

  • Capacity warnings — Your production capacity for an upcoming day has hit a threshold:
    • 70% — Getting busy. Think carefully before accepting more orders.
    • 90% — Nearly full. Only accept if you are sure you can handle it.
    • 100% — At capacity. The Sweet Spot marks the day as full.
  • Order limit warnings — You are approaching or have reached your daily order limit.

Customers and Communication

  • Unresponded inbox messages — A customer sent you a message and you have not replied yet.
  • Client milestones — A returning customer hits a milestone like their fifth order. A chance to say thank you.

Inventory

  • Low-stock alerts — An ingredient in The Pantry has dropped below its reorder threshold. Stock up before your next bake day.
Good to know: Not every card type appears every day. The briefing only shows cards when there is something actionable. A quiet briefing means your bakery is running smoothly.

Acting on Briefing Cards

Each card includes an action you can take directly from the feed:
  • Tap the card to open the related order, invoice, quote, or conversation.
  • Tap the action button on the card (such as “Review Order” or “Send Reminder”) to take the next step without leaving The Counter.
Once you handle the item, the card clears from your feed.

Dismissing Cards

If a card does not require action, swipe it away or tap Dismiss. Dismissed cards do not reappear. Use this for items you have handled outside of Knead or events that do not need a response.
Pro tip: Check your briefing first thing in the morning and once more in the afternoon. Two quick scans keep you on top of everything without constant checking.
