# Delivery and Pickup Coordination

> Manage deliveries and pickups so every order reaches your customer.

## Overview

Every order needs to get to your customer. Knead helps you manage whether each order is a delivery or a pickup, schedule fulfillment times, and track status from kitchen to customer.

## Setting Delivery or Pickup on an Order

When you create or edit an order, you choose the fulfillment method.

1. Open the order you want to update.
2. Tap the **Fulfillment** section.
3. Select **Delivery** or **Pickup**.
4. Save the order.

You can change the fulfillment method any time before the order is marked as complete.

<Tip>Pro tip: If most of your orders are pickup, set pickup as your default fulfillment method in your business settings. You can still switch individual orders to delivery.</Tip>

## Scheduling Fulfillment Times

Each order can have a specific date and time for delivery or pickup.

1. Open the order.
2. Tap the **Fulfillment Date** field and select the date.
3. Set a time or time window (for example, "between 2pm and 4pm").
4. Save the order.

Scheduled times appear on The Sweet Spot calendar, so you can see your full day at a glance.

## Marking Orders as Ready for Pickup

Once you finish baking and packing an order, mark it as ready.

1. Open the order.
2. Tap **Mark as Ready for Pickup**.
3. The order status updates and your customer receives a notification.

This keeps your customer informed without you needing to send a separate message.

<Note>Good to know: Customers receive an automatic email when their order is marked as ready. You do not need to message them separately.</Note>

## Tracking Delivery Status

For delivery orders, update the status as you go.

1. Open the order.
2. Update the status to **Out for Delivery** when you leave.
3. Update to **Delivered** once the handoff is complete.

These status changes are logged on the order, giving you a clear record of when each step happened.

## Communicating Pickup Details to Customers

Your customers need to know where and when to pick up their orders. There are a few ways to handle this:

* **Order confirmation email** — Pickup details you add to the order appear in the confirmation email automatically. If you have configured [pickup locations](/integrations-and-setup/pickup-locations), the address is included for you.
* **Inbox message** — Send a direct message through your Knead inbox with specific instructions (address, parking, doorbell info).
* **Client notes** — For repeat customers, store standing pickup instructions in their client profile so you do not have to repeat yourself.

## Organizing Your Fulfillment Day

When you have multiple deliveries and pickups on the same day:

1. Open **The Sweet Spot** and select the day.
2. Review all orders scheduled for that date.
3. Group your deliveries by area to plan an efficient route.
4. Handle pickups around your delivery windows.

<Tip>Pro tip: Schedule all pickups for a specific window (like 3pm to 5pm) so you are not interrupted throughout the day. Mention this window on The Board so customers know what to expect when they order.</Tip>
